In every facet of his being, Murray L. Lippman devotes his life to leaving the world a better place than he found it. As a businessman, statesman, and philanthropist, Murray's dedicated himself to benefiting and motivating others.
Murray grew up with a sense of shared concern for the welfare of other Jews. It was the notion of peoplehood that motivated him to become President of The Combined Jewish Appeal, a role he held with distinction for over two decades. Throughout his presidency, Murray used his position as a platform to advocate for Jews around the world. Murray's deep sense of peoplehood motivated him to fight for the freedom of Cuban Jews, patiently visiting Eastern European countries the Soviet Union and Cuba in the 1980s, gaining increased credibility, trust, and influence culminating in his private meeting with Fidel Castro when the Cuban President agreed to begin the process of permitting Cuban Jews to emigrate. Murray is also one of the founders of Birthright Israel Foundation. Murray owned his first business by the time he was 20. Murray also took a clothing company he started and brought it public which he eventually sold it to a major USA retailer. Murray was a professor and taught bankruptcy law at McGill University for over 15 years. Murray created and developed more than 20 different companies, among them Lippman Leebosh & April, one of Quebec's largest CPA firms.
